Help us create change!

The Millrace Low Head Dam is  located between Eugene and Springfield in the Willamette River and it poses an ongoing risk to our community safety.  The decommissioned dam's design creates powerful currents that can easily trap even experienced swimmers or boaters, leading to fatal accidents. According to American Whitewater Association, low head dams are the number one cause of drownings in US Rivers.

Our community cannot afford more loss of life due to this hazardous structure. We urge The Oregon Marine Board and all relevant authorities in Local, County or Oregon State Government to expedite an immediate inspection of the Millrace Low Head Dam.  If it is found that modifications cannot sufficiently mitigate its inherent dangers, we call for its ultimate removal. The safety of our community members should always be paramount.
